Firefox is better

Firefox is clearly the better browser: Open source, fewer bugs, and it (unlike IE) conforms properly to open standards. It doesn't have the security problems of Internet Explorer. It simply does what it should, and it does it well.

  • In response to to the argument for IE, we say:

What?! Who the h*ll posted this drivel?

"Internet Explorer looks better." Looks better than what? MS has, as usual, moved everything from its old, familiar, locations forcing you to have to waste time looking for controls and features. Plus, it only looks better than 6 because 6 was so outdated in the first place. Plus, if you don't like the default FF look you can change it in a flash with one of thousands of themes.

"The new version makes every webpage look better than Firefox." - Um...web designers make pages look good. Browsers do a good job of screwing up the intended designs and IE7 does this in spades because MS keeps trying to shove proprietary systems down our throat rather than support open standards.

"It has tabbed browsing" - Every other browser has had this for years. MS is playing catch-up per the norm.

"integrates better into Windows." - This is actually its biggest weakness. Because it's so tightly bound to the operating system, anyone that finds a weakness in it can get into your computer.

Internet Explorer is better

Like it or not, the "Standards" that Firefox adheres to are only standards if they're being used by the majority of sites on the internet. Unfortunately, most sites still look and work better in IE, so the whole "standards-compliant" thing quickly turns into an empty excuse for rendering the majority of web pages in a way other than the designer intended.
